Even though the men & women we meet in prison are often blown away by the thought that total strangers go out of their way to spend time “inside”, I am the one who had truly benefitted. As a prison volunteer my life on the outside has only gotten better. I have more gratitude for things I once took for granted. I am more accepting and less judgmental of others. Even some of my personal relationships were restored. Because of the jail and prison programs I have participated in, I am able to forgive others more easily than before. My worldview is wider. It is more inclusive & I have more compassion. Going inside gives me purpose. I know I am making a difference in this world and for that I am very grateful and proud. Prison Ministry is one of the best things I have ever done in my life.”
